Over 600 drivers dinged in school zones around Saskatchewan

REGINA – Police in Saskatchewan focusing on safety in school zones for the month of September handed out more than 600 tickets.

Police issued 640 tickets to drivers speeding in school zones and 32 tickets to drivers with improperly restrained children.

Police warn drivers to be extra vigilant when approaching a school zone and to be cautious of school buses.

Law enforcement officials also issued an additional 8,032 tickets to drivers for other traffic infractions.

6,571 manual speeding tickets522 seatbelt tickets (drivers and passengers aged 16 years and older)378 tickets for failing to stop at a red light or stop sign276 impaired driving-related charges285 tickets related to distracted driving (124 for cellphone use)

For the month of October police are spotlighting distracted driving.
