REGINA – Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall says more can be done to help protect the environment, but he also wants to make sure new policies don’t hurt the province. Wall says that’s why it’s important to voice Saskatchewan’s concerns at a major climate talk in Paris.

Prime minister-designate Justin Trudeau says he wants to take all 13 premiers to the United Nations climate change conference which starts at the end of November.

Wall says he wants to make sure that whatever Canada is committing to doesn’t “kneecap” the economy in the West.

The premier says there aren’t a lot of details yet, but he likes that Trudeau has said provinces would be able to reach national greenhouse gas targets on their own.

Wall also wants to promote a carbon capture project that opened at a coal-fired power plant in Saskatchewan last year.
